First and foremost: “Fear not”
“fear not’ is my motto, but be prepared. New Orleans is a very infamous haunted town and is my home town. I was lucky to grow up in a supernatural environment and learned to listen to the murmurings of those who had come before me at a young age. I researched, trained and and learned first hand, direct from the source.

CARRY PROTECTIONS (PSYCHIC SHIELDS AND TALISMANS)
ALWAYS GO WITH A FRIEND OR A GUIDE WHO KNOWS THE TERRAIN
BRING SALT OR SALTINE CRACKERS
For a quick fix if spirits are too overwhelming or even if the energy area is just a bit over the top- eat salt. Crackers will ground you quickly, because of the salt on them – so you have salt and food! Salt is cleansing too.
CARRY FLORIDA WATER
It is an inexpensive cologne used by shamans and spirit workers in many nations, but it’s just a great old Southern recipe too (though, it is bottled in New York). It can be an offering for the sprits to call them near, it can also be used to cleanse them away. Wording is different for the two processes.
A) Stops the itching from mosquito bites.
B) Brings down the swelling from bee stings.
C) Relieves the sting from fire ant bites (partially)
D) Cools you down heat and lowers fevers
BRING PHONE AND CAMERA
For contact to the living and the dead! Sometimes the dead may literally work through our electronics. Our modern electronics and smartphones have cameras, recorders, and notepads (plus room for ghost apps and internet access) So make sure to bring it heavily charged! I hate cell phone cameras for any photos of anomalies, but is is good backup in a pinch and great for video sand audio files.
I like the waterproof Nikon cameras for rough and ready paranormal on-the-go results. Fuji waterproof cameras are my next best choice.
BRING EXTRA BATTERIES
Batteries get sucked dry in an instant in the paranormal fieldwork. I find by being polite and bringing them something else to feed on can stop this issue but bring extra batteries anyway!
GIVE A GIFT OR OFFERING
I bring something appropriate to the place and spirits I am visiting. Though I am aware of their era and may bring something appropriate, it is still a gift. I do not use it as a lure or a trigger item only. I have found investigators bring things to use as bait, not with intention of gifting it. It is how you look at it and how you offer it that is perceived by the spirits. Be nice, gift with good intentions and from the heart. The spirits can see through many facades: try to be genuine.
