The Story Behind this Postcard
Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau has been a name synonymous with New Orleans, controversy and magic for hundreds of years. She and the Marie’s before and after her have stirred the curiosity of laymen, New Orleanians, tourists, historians, politicians and even Kings and Queens-many of whom sought her council in life and in afterlife. The main Marie-The Widow Paris was a political leader, civil rights leader, healer, psychic and of course the “Popess of Voodoo”.  Widow Paris, Marie Laveau native born 1801 died 1881. Many Marie Laveau’s lived and died in New Orleans, some blood relatives who followed in her footsteps and many who did not-plus ample evidence of at least one who was serving before her too!
